Welcome
Week 23 - Paula and me............. 28th January 2007 Do you like my new little friend? Her name is Paula and she has just gone to live in the home of some puppy walker friends of Mum & Dad. They have a big puppy as well at the moment, Josie - so I think Paula has a fun time in her new home. I expect I will keep you updated on her antics - unless they are funnier than mine, then maybe not!. Last week I was telling you that I hadn't heard from Harry, well blow me, he turned up to stay the night the very same day. We had a lot of catching up to do, so Mum & Dad were not in for a quiet night. He woke me up at 4am as he wanted a game of tug of war - don't think Mum & Dad appreciated that one. I have heard Mum & Dad whispering something about vets and Harry next week, so all I can say Harry is if they try to get you in the car and mention the v word, run in the other direction with your legs crossed (quite difficult I should imagine). Your Mum says you won't be running about for a few weeks - all I can say is it doesn't sound good Harry! My Mum has agreed to help with some fundraising for Guide Dogs in the middle of February and she and some other 'cooks' have decided to make some dog cookies to sell. Well, they had to try out all the recipes didn't they - this is me waiting patiently for my batch to come out of the oven so I can taste them! They were very nice and Dad gave some away to Harry, Poppy & Dixie as well. We are waiting to hear if they liked them or not. On the subject of food, my supervisor met us the other day to check on how I was doing and he decided to change my food over. The new one is great, I really (really) like it. Now if I could just have the new food, sprinkled with some chopped up cookies I will be in doggie heaven! You may be wondering why I have posted my diary so early this week, well it is because Mum is going out, and she normally helps me with my diary, so it has to be done now. She says she is going to something called 'singalonga sound of music'? I will never understand humans - when I sing, they don't like it, when they sing. that's alright! Anyway, Harry is coming over again tonight, so we will practice singing together, just for Dad! By the way, Dad says I should tell you that I am now 30kgs. Love Pickle xx
Comments:- Hello Pickle Well I have read your blog to Harry (minus the bit about the V.E.T.S). Mind you I think he knows something is afoot as he heard me telling your Dad no treats tonight. Now being a VERY intelligent Pup, Harry has asked me to tell you, he will keep in close contact with you this week as he thinks there is something VERY fishy going on. !! He agrees about the singing as his Mum cant carry a tune in a bucket and when she starts caterwauling we all have to spend a busy quick !! Haha Will keep you posted. Love Harry xxxxx
Week 24 - Breezy between the knees......... 4th February 2007 Harry and I had a fantastic time last Sunday night while Mum and Harry's Mum went off to their Sound of Music thing. Dad let us stay up late, and gave us lots of treats, so we were really happy. I was just grateful that they were all sung out by the time they got back, so it was at least peaceful for me and Harry. I had found out during the day what all the whispering about vets was and that Harry was going there tomorrow, so I decided - as any good mate would, to tell him what was about to happen to him. As you can see from his expression in the picture above that he does not look too chuffed about it. I hope I don't have to go through the same thing, although I'd better step up the tunnel digging, just in case. Mum & Dad had their new carpet delivered and fitted on Tuesday, it was great to be able to lie out flat on something other than a hard floor, so I spent all of the evening stretched out. As the evening went on though, I started to feel a little queasy, and at about 8.30, just about 4 hours after the carpet was finished, I deposited all my tea on it! Luckily, Mum has a sense of humour and laughed - I notice not too worried about why I was sick in the first place - oh no, just, oh well, we knew that would happen sooner or later! I have had a busy training weekend, we went into to the middle of town and to an art exhibition. I showed my distaste by whining a bit, but Dad just took no notice and carried on. Then we went along a busy road and crossed over to go in a shop. There were some stairs that we had to negotiate and Dad was really pleased with me because I remembered to stop at the bottom and wait, before going up. Today, we went into town again and to a farmers market where Dad bought some smelly cheese. There were a lot of people there and it was good for me to go through crowds and walk nicely - most of the time :)) After all that activity, all I wanted to do was watch a bit of telly. Next week, I hear we are having a ton of gravel delivered to put in the garden......I can see some good fun coming my way. Love Pickle xx
Week 25 - My first snow............. 11th February 2007 We had snow this week. I think Mum & Dad knew it was coming, but the first I knew about it was when I was let out for my morning busy. I proceeded to eat it - well it looked like it could possibly be food, but it just made my lips go numb. The gravel I mentioned last week was delivered this week, and I wanted to help Dad to scatter it all over the garden - it's a shame that wasn't where he wanted it. After a while - I got put in the house to have a think about what I was doing wrong - spoilsport! My dinner time seems to get later each week, so I have now taken to watching the clock intently just to make sure they don't miss the time I am supposed to eat! I saw Harry this week, I think he was still feeling a bit fragile after his visit to the v.e.t. last week. I was kind to him and didn't play too rough - well it will be my turn next, so I thought I'd better not tease him too much. On Friday we went out for the evening to Herbie's Mum & Dad - we had a lovely time, and I was cheeky and went upstairs foraging around for toys. I very proudly brought down this one, and proceeded to chew its nose off! I got lots of attention all evening and managed to almost clear the room with one of my trump specials - I save it for special occasions you know. I think that was when they decided it was best to take me home! Do you remember I have told you about Fabian before - he was Mum & Dads first Guide Dog puppy and he qualified to be a working Guide Dog last November. Well, they got a picture of him in his nice white harness this week, so I am putting it on my diary. It will be there to remind me that this is what someday I will grow up to be and this is why I need to go through all the training (even though it just seems like fun!) Love Pickle xx
