Welcome
Week 45 - Barbecue Time!  24th June 2007 Sorry, I am off to a barbecue tonight, so I will update my diary tomorrow. I will then tell you all about Ivan and his peculiar habit with garden snails....... Love Pickle xx
Week 45 - The week that was..... 25th June 2007 Sorry I didn't do my diary last night, but I was just about to start when Dad said we were off to a bbq. No notice of course, so I had to rush and get my dinner to take with me. The picture is of me with Pixie, she has come to stay for a few days, so we went for a nice walk to the top of a hill. It was funny because there was lots of long grass and Pixie went running through it, all we could see were her ears jogging up and down. I have been babysitting a lot this week, Vinny came to stay for a few hours on Friday. At first he was a bit scared of me, but I left him alone until he decided he was happy to play - then there was no stopping him. My tail still hurts where he was hanging off it! Dad is going to put a video clip on the end so you can see us together. While Vinny was with us, Ivan popped round to tell me what he has been up to lately. I think that boy has taken things a bit far...I know he is my apprentice, but I think his Mum & Dad's garden is getting a bit of a battering in the holes department! Also (and I can assure you, I did not teach him this) he has taken to finding snails in the garden and delicately extracting the snail from it's shell and eating it. Yuk! I must say he is looking well though, so maybe it is a new vitamin we should all try? Once Vinny had realised I was ok, and he could play with me, he took advantage and got into my bed. I wouldn't have minded, but I was in it at the time. During the week, I went along to a Guide Dogs fund raising meeting and Chelsea and Anka (and Ivan) were there. Anka and I had a few tug of war games with my lead. I admire her for having a go, but did she really think I would let her have it? On Saturday, we all went along to a school fete to show how wonderful we are. There were lots of children there, and quite a few of them took one of my cards with my diary address on it - hello if you are one of them! We were very well behaved and didn't jump when a ballon burst right next to us, or when there were whistles blowing and children with faces painted like tigers. Even the liitle 'uns - Ivan, Vinny and Anka - were not phased by anything. I know that technically the last picture should be in next weeks diary as it was from last night, but Mum wanted to add it as it is so cute (she says!). It was Pixie and I on the way home from the barbecue, shattered... Love Pickle xx
Comments:- Anonymous said... Hi Pickle, Harry here, I say old bean, we were all most disappointed you didnt update your diary yesterday, I am beginning to wonder if you ae not taking your responsibilities seriously so stiff upper lip old lad we will have no shirking here !! I hear you have had a visit from "She who must be Obeyed" today and I am completely astounded she didnt mention what a porker you are getting, I know you weigh at least 3 kilos more than me. So be careful or everyone will be asking "Who ate all the pies?", Well we know it isnt me !!! I suggest you try Hydrotherapy that will soon whittle the pounds away !!. Still I suppose only SPECIAL puppies get the chance of that. I shall see you later in the week, where I think it high time I took you under my paw once and for all and started laying down a few ground rules about corruption of minors !! tee hee. See you soon Skid, Your beloved leader and mentor Haary the Handsome !! xxxxx
Week 46 - Friends, Food and Fabian 1st July 2007 This picture covers the first two words of the title - friends and food. Pixie and I were waiting patiently (very patiently I thought) for our tea. We have to wait until Dad blows a whistle before we can eat, which is hard sometimes, especially when my tummy is rumbling! Pixie stayed with me until Thursday and we had a great time. She just loves playing rough and tumble, even though she is nearly 11 years old - I hope I will still want to play like she does when I am that age. Cute picture time.....the little puppy is Fabian - Mum & Dad's first guide dog puppy who qualified last November. Dad was so pleased this week as he had a phone call from the family that Fabian lives with. He had a long chat with them and it seems Fabian is as playful as ever but is also a very good guide dog. Mum & Dad are very proud of him and may get to see him next week at the Guide Dog Gala Day - which will be very exciting for all of us - I have heard so much about this Fabian that I want to meet him for myself! I have had a few training walks this week and a few free runs. I saw my supervisor this week and she seemed quite pleased with me, and they were all talking about 'next puppy' - I wonder what that is all about then? On Thursday, I went for a walk with most of the gang (including the little 'uns - Vinny and Ivan). We all teased Ivan about his snail eating, and Dad offered him one as an after walk treat. His Mum & Dad weren't too pleased with that! Strangely enough Harry was a bit quiet - could it be that he read my blog and decided to try a slug for himself??! I don't know who found the muddy puddle first on the walk, but we all enjoyed it anyway. I think Chelsea gets the prize for getting the muddiest, but she does have the most hair, so it probably sticks to it more. She will have to go off to the poodle parlour again to get a wash and brush up! We all met Gracie for the first time on this walk, she is an alternative career dog, who has come back from Leamington. She was telling us all the tales (tails!) of what we can expect when we go up there. It sounds like it will be lots of fun. The last picture for this week is of me running through the grass with......do you know I am not sure if it is Vinny or Ivan? Ah well, me and one of the wee ones - athough they won't be little for too much longer. Love Pickle xx
Week 47 - The Chuckle Brothers 8th July 2007 Hope you like this picture of Harry and I. We were out on a walk and Dad made us sit ever so still until he got just the right picture of us, which took AGES.....a few treats were required for that! Don't you think we are starting to look alike? For those who can't see the difference, I am on the right hand side - far more handsome I think.  Harry has had a few sleepovers with us this week and we have been out and about on walks and training sessions. We did take him into a pub a couple of times too, as we discovered that this part of his training was sadly lacking, so Dad felt it was his duty to put that right straight away! Of course, I am used to it and decided to eat a beer mat, as per usual. Although, unfortunately it was the one that had been holding the wonky table leg up, so I think Mum & Dad had a wobbly drink from then on! We tried a new place for a walk this week, and all was going well until Dad slipped down a grassy bank - we all tried not to laugh - honest! At one point, one of the other pups Mums or Dads had the bright idea that it would be a good idea to get us all tied up to a fancy post and take a picture. Hmmmmm, I suppose it is quite a good one - Ivan was a bit fed up though and most of the other pictures are of him looking very bored - this was the only one of him looking cheerful (perhaps some-one mentioned a snail for a treat?). Left to right we have - me, Anka, Chelsea, Ivan and Harry - the wild bunch! Earlier in the week, little Vinny joined us for a run and a training session. He and Ivan are best mates now, and will be the oldest boys when Harry and I go in for training. We have taught them well, so it is up to them to continue our good work now - digging gardens, chewing (anything), barking at inappropriate times and general mischief. Although, I do get a bit tired when they keep coming up and asking me questions.......I do like my peace and quiet every now and again! The last two pictures this week are the before and after shots. I ask you, I have a nice little nap - Mum kindly put a blanket over me and a pillow under my head, and then Dad has to take a picture! I was not amused! Love Pickle xx
