Welcome
Week 48 - The way we were.......  15th July 2007 I thought I would take this opportunity to do a little reminder this week of how much we have grown and how far we have come with our training. The picture above is of me when I was 7 weeks old, and the other one is of Harry at about the same age - what he was doing with his paw I don't know?! He will not be happy with me for adding his puppy picture - but whose diary is it anyway! Actually, we have heard some exciting news this week - Harry goes off for his formal training on August 1st. He is already deciding what he is going to pack - but we are not sure what he is allowed to take yet. I will look after any toys he needs to leave behind if necessary - after all what are friends for? I don't know when I will be joining Harry, but it will be around September or October. He is going to be a big head then, as he will be way ahead of me with his training. So, onto this weeks activities - lots of training and more training. Dad has decided to step things up a bit and I am not allowed to get away with anything anymore, he is even censoring my diary now! On Monday night we went along to a talk about Guide Dogs for the local brownie pack. I took a few friends with me Harry, Chelsea and Anka. We were on best behaviour and showed how we can carry out our commands - even at Anka's young age. On Wednesday, we all met up again and had a free run, Dad will add the video at the end of this weeks post. The picture above is when we were out with Vinny and I dropped a training treat in the water, well a boy has to retrieve any treats he can - you never know where (or when) the next one is coming from. Now, something about next week - on Tuesday (17th) it is my birthday and I am happy to receive birthday cards and messages (treats would be nice, but I won't hold my breath!). Love Pickle xx

Week 49 - Happy Birthday to me...tra la la! 22nd July 2007 Thank you for all my cards and good wishes for my special day, I had a great time. Especially thank you to Harry for the liver cake and all the treats and toys he got me - I was very pleased with them. I even got a birthday rhyme from him...here goes - Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you One day you'll be a guide dog And i'll be one toooo....! We decided to all go for a walk this week with Vinny & Ivan. It was in Vinnys home town so he was supposed to show us around, but I think he was too busy playing with Ivan. Dad took me into the centre of the town a couple of days ago, he wants to keep up the training with me - the little blue coat I wear is very good at stopping people stroking me, much as I love it, it does distract me from what dad is saying. I went upstairs, downstairs, in clothes shops and in food shops, they all have a different type of floor which is also something I have to get used to. Talking of getting used to something, mum and I went with dad to the sailing club today. It was fun, especially as it is on the sea, and I have only been to the sea once before when I was little. Dad was somewhere out there in one of those boats, but I am far more interested in the pebbles on the beach! Whenever a boat crossed the finishing line, they blew this awful siren, but I soon got used to it and even dozed off to sleep. People were amazed as they said other dogs are shaking and run off when they hear it - but I am a Guide Dog pup and we don't scare easily (unless it is a leaf blowing in the wind). The last picture today, Mum thought she would get a nice one of me in the flowers, but I am fed up with posing for pictures - so I decided to stick my tongue out! Love Pickle xx
Week 50 - All ship shape and Bristol fashion....! 29th July 2007 Hello there, look at me posing for a photo by this big ship. Mum & Dad took me to a maritime festival. We didn't go on any ships, but we walked round a french market, which had some lovely smells wafting through it. We also saw some Newfoundland dogs who were doing a water demonstration later in the day. They were HUGE! I thought I was big, but I am nothing compared to these guys. As it was a hot day, there were lots of ice creams being bought, but as usual, I got nothing. Dad was very pleased with me as I can now find the button for him at pelican crossings, he just has to say the words and I can do it. He made me do it though zillions of times, Dad I've got it now, ok! Notice the handsome German Shepherd in the picture? His name is Rufus, and Harry and I went for a free run with him on Monday. He is younger than both of us, but bigger by about 3kgs! He was great fun and we showed him a thing or two about puddles. As Harry is off to training next Wednesday, I have seen quite a lot of him over the last few days. Tuesday we all decided to go for a trip on the train. We made a good day of it, and had lots of unexpected surprises, like the 10.50am express train coming through very very fast. Luckily Harry and I had just had a chew, so we didn't take too much notice. Mum laughed though because she said the wind from the train rushing through made our ears blow backwards! After a leisurely stroll through the town, we ended up at.......a pub! We met a couple of German Shepherd puppies there, and Mum & Dad keep saying it is fate as they are thinking about one of those dogs as 'nextpuppy' (still don't know what that means). After much discussion about the quickest way back to the train station, we all jumped on the right train. After that excitement we then settled down and went to sleep. On Friday, I got taken over to see Vinny. As I am the older and wiser dog, I immediately took over all Vinnys toys and bones. He wasn't too happy about it, but that's life! Dad will put a video clip on the end of this diary entry so you can see what I mean. Well my last picture is one that Dad took this week of Harry. Apart from me, he is the most handsomest dog I know! I have been working very hard and have produced a CD for Harry to take with him to the training centre - all pictures of me, so that he can remember all the times he got me into trouble! We are going to keep in contact with him, so I will let you all know how well he is doing. Bye Harry, love you mate!!  Love Pickle xx Comments:- Anonymous said... Well, we can all see that you have been very busy lately and think you definately know your way around a public house. Don't know whether it's you or your human companions that like those places. Say Bye Bye to Harry, Good Luck and take Care of yourself.
