SGBA pollen identification workshop
The SGBA Pollen Workshop is an introduction to the collection and preparation of pollen for the microscope.
Pollen is the fertilising dust of flowers, comes in many shapes and a range of sizes, and even the largest is too small to be
seen in detail by the naked eye or even with the help of a hand lens. To appreciate the beauty of pollen it is necessary to
examine it under a microscope.
The workshop will cover the selection of a suitable microscope for pollen identification, the preparation of pollen for the
microscope and some assistance in understanding what is seen.
The workshop is divided into three sections:-
1.
Preparation of pollen for the microscope
2.
Using the microscope
3.
Examining pollen grains
